New Career search - am I worthy??? Cdn resume
After lurking around the forum, I decided to post my updated resume and seek the help of the wallstreetoasis's community
http://www.razume.com/documents/16484
I just graduated this year with BCom in Finance, but have had some extensive experience in the industry while I was in school. I'm looking for an Analyst position in IB.
I feel that my biggest obstacle is not having any internship experience, or having some working experience within a fairly known consulting company.
I worked for a small consulting company that mainly represented clients from Europe, who were looking into investment opportunities in Canada.
Any help is greatly appreciated....
ps. be gentle :-)
anyone?
any help?
Looks ok. I would try to get it on to one page. Two page resumes would really only be appropriate for someone with industry experience. Depending on your age (2010 graduation? doesnt make sense that you were an analyst in 2004) you may be a little too old to get a job as an analyst with all the experience. But your write ups are good.
Take the CFA and IFIC sections out. Anyone who knows about these exams will know that it just means you haven't taken the exams yet. Don't put it in until you pass one section. Also note that the CFA isn't useful for the IB industry. I know it sounds cool, but it's more for portfolio management, etc.
Interests and Activities sections are WAY too long. It's nice to know that you use StockTrak and everything, but leave it to a sentence max.
Bottom line, you'll only get in with a strong connection so I'd start cold calling or networking ASAP. Time is not on your side.
Wealth Management may be a better field for you to look into. But good luck dude.
Thank you, will make the stated corrections,
I have decided to take on a career switch, and therefore I have some experience. I have been working full-time while attending university (part-time/full-time)
Since I posted the resume online, I did work on fitting it on a single page.
ps. I did consider Wealth Management.
