Non-Target Resume. KARMA BONUS FOR HELP

Next week marks the grind as I begin to cold contact every boutique in Boston for an internship. I'd feel more comfortable with feedback. Anything is appreciated.

If you think I can't make it, lie to me.

Feel my odds drastically increase if I can get a face to face meet. There are 30 boutiques in my area, I will start with those.

That was a downer comment. Still confident in myself.

Gonna make it. Gonna make it. Gonna make it.

I don't like the layout of your resume. You should use the M&I template.

I agree with the guy above; you really should start sooner than next week. Get the ball rolling!

Also, if you are afraid of people finding out who you are (which I'm assuming you are as the personal contact info on your resume is blacked out), you should really not use your real name as your username. Actually, even if you aren't afraid of people finding out who you are you shouldn't use your real name as your username.

highly proficient in windows 7 and ms office.. if you have that on your resume you better know the ins and outs of office... shortcuts, random formulas, anything that you could possibly think of using excel for. to me highly proficient in windows 7 means you understand the coding behind it and can use any function of it, unless this is the case, change it or get rid of it.

also, i never really understood the purpose of putting relevant coursework if your a business major but thats just me

Will look into M&I format. Will remove the office suite. Met with someone at JPM that advised relevant coursework.

Jeff are you here to troll the board?

Gonna make it. Gonna make it. Gonna make it.

You are asking for advice, but don't want honest opinions? Clearly, you understand the competition you are up against as Bridgewater State is equivelant to a Tier 3 school in the Boston area.

The advice is above is pretty sound, you need to sign up for CFA L1 and find a Bridgewater State alum in the area. Your resume will be tossed in the trash the second anyone sees Bridgewater State, unless you have somebody helping your resume out of the pile

Also, when I was first looking for a job in the area I was sending out applications to ~30 firms every day or two. You really need to cast a wider net, and will probably have to settle for a BO job to get your foot in the door. Graduate school is probably your best bet to rebrand yourself, I would look into Suffolk, Northeastern and at a stretch maybe BC, BU, Bentley, Babson, etc.

Refrmat your resume using the M&I resume format, and take the grades you received in the relevant coursework off.

Alex, what do you want to do? IB?

There is nothing remotely finance related on your resume. Also, move your education to the bottom - it will give the reader an extra 10 seconds to find you interesting before he sees Bridgewater State and your resume goes in the trash.

Also, apply to boutiques somewhere far away from Boston... far away enough that they may not have heard of Bridgewater State and don't know how bad that is.

Resume looks a bit cluttered... looks like you have a ton of space available... USE IT
