SATs
Are they really necessary? Mine aren't that hot, think around 700 for verbal and english, and mid-600s for math. My ACTs were better, and my high school didn't really stress the SAT. Also, my major GPA is a 4.0 and I have some solid internships and GPA in college. That being said, if I don't put it on there, will I really not be considered if I don't throw the SATs on there?
Only put your SAT scores if they're above 1400 (math+reading).
I always wondered if people considered re-taking the SAT. It seems like these scores stick with you forever - Analyst recruiting, PE recruiting, B-school apps. And now, I think most people would do a ton better on the test than they did in high school. Anyone ever hear of people doing that?
i'm amazed how SAT scores still play a role as a filter in post-analyst recruiting: a test taken 8-9 years ago still looms. that said, often times a GMAT score will supplant the SAT.
If you are applying to BB firms, definitely put some standardized test score on your resume (they will throw it out otherwise). If you think your ACT is higher, put that down instead.
The SAT is not judged alone; the test score and GPA together are a perfunctory check on what a recruiter has to rank. If you have a good GPA, it shouldn't count against you.
Once you get the interview, SAT does not really affect your chances of landing the job.

This isn't true at all. Only put your SATs on your resume if it's a very good score.
so a solid score on the GMAT replaces it...hmmmmm...but seriously, if you took the SAT in college, you'd think they (potential employers) would be able to figure that out, right?
Also, what score and above would be considered "acceptable" for the GMAT? Its like 700, right? How much studying would it take to get a score like that for someone who isn't completed retarded?
Jcost,
I tutor the GMAT, scored above 700, and I can say with pretty good confidence that you should crack 600 right now and get 700+ with 1.5-2 months of solid prep work. Whoever posted that you need a 1400+ is right. If your ACT is below 31/32 I'd say don't include. Even 31 is a stretch.
