2+2 Chances (Any shot at all?)

Yeah I figured I prob will have better shot applying regularly after analyst program. Not so sure though, my application may look more accomplished comparatively now, than it will after analyst 2 years.

if you write some killer application essays and can get the GMAT above a 700 I'd say you have a shot, especially if you go the social entrepreneurship route.

WSO- Thanks, I def think I can write some great essays (my college classes are all writing intensive), and I plan on going the social-enterprise route... would love to eventually work in a emerging mkts social enterprise fund.... I read that Harvard is really pushing for more social enterprise-focused students... figure this is my shot in.

Yeah figured so, wish I were a better test-taker. Even with extra tutoring on SAT my scores barely went up. Not sure what else to do with the GMAT except practice practice practice. I haven't taken a math class in all of college...

i have a very similar profile.. why would someone from an ivy/target with a bb internship want to apply for HBS 2+2 when the chances of getting dinged are high? i'd say the optimal time to apply for someone with our background is 3 years after graduation.

2+2 is for non-traditional candidates, having a S&T internship makes you look pretty traditional.

Yeah I mean I thought it was geared towards non biz majors... which category I fall into. Although, I do have an interest in business and social enterprise, I felt it was best prep for future to try and get S&T SA given what I'm interested in.

Where I'm not traditional is all the social enterprise work I've been doing over the last year, including an internship in Africa and continuing research and projects focusing on similar areas of business development in emerging markets. I don't know if this is enough to keep me in the pile or not.

Also, if it helps at all, I designed my own major... I'm not going to go into it here, but it is pretty unique and very cool.

I'd say you have a less than average shot. With the acceptance rate at 12%, I would guestimate your chances at 6% depending on recs and the extent of your extracurriculars.

to improve your chances, DO NOT put BB S&T Internship on your resume.

Well, if you look at BB offer rate (according to top guy who told this to auditorium), offer rate in terms of 1st rounds given is about 1-3%, at least at this BB, so I guess 6% isn't too bad. Worth a shot in any case.

I'm going to try and raise my GPA as high as possible and work on the GMAT (not too hopeful about this getting higher though).

FOMC- then what do I say I did all summer after junior year? Seems kind of dumb to me to take off a prestigious job just because it is related to business.

obviously you've got some sort of chance, but the long and short of it is that as a white jew male you're going to likely need a higher GMAT to get much of a look

recently I spoke with an admissions expert who told me that I had a strong profile (not 2+2, but standard admissions) for top schools, but that my GMAT was pretty low for a white (half jew!) male trying to get into H/S/W... I got a 730. WTF - I know.

What admissions expert did you talk to? Are you in finance or consulting in NY? Isn't getting 700 or above just a check-the-box type of thing?
