Advice Needed! I Hate MAcc!!!

Hello everyone,
I am a finance ug doing summer semester at a top MAcc program. Did the program knowing I didnt like accounting too much, but the opportunity to do OCR was too good to pass up. After two weeks of school, I have begun to realize I HATE accounting. What should I do? I still have an open admit from SMU MSF and I have until the end of next week to let them know. Should I go back and work for my former employer (who mentioned he'd love to have me back) and re-apply to all of the top MSFs, or nut up and finish the MAcc. I still have until next week to withdraw with a full refund. Thanks! I know I am going to get a lot of "Why MAcc if you hated it?!" comments but I appreciate them nonetheless. Merci!

I think the real value in a MAcc is for accounting. If you hate accounting then don't do it since you probably won't want to work in accounting afterwards. If your dream is a big 4 job a CPA then a controller job, or something along those lines, then do it. Otherwise don't waste your time. If you just want to be a finance guy you don't need the in depth accounting stuff you'll be learning.

What do you even want to do long term and upon graduation? Does this program place into those types of jobs? If not, don't bother. If yes, I'd think twice and consider your ability to get the same position in a less painful route.

I don't want to be a CPA or a controller. I only did the MAcc to get into the school's awesome OCR. The school regularly places into all facets of banking. I want to do finance both in the short and long term.

Is it McCombs? If the program places into banking I'd just stay there, finish the program and try to get a job in banking. Btw, you don't have to say that you hate accounting... If you still have the chance to move to SMU MSF and that program has a better placement that your current school, just go there...

I'm grateful that I have two middle fingers, I only wish I had more.

It is not McCombs. The program doesn't regularly place into banking like UT MPA, but there is a decent amount that try to, and get, banking jobs. Why do you say I don't have to say I hate accounting?

What I meant is that if the program can place you where you want, it is not relevant the fact that you hate accounting (of course you can say here that you don't like it :) )... the important thing is that it can get you there...

It can get me where I want. No doubt about that. But I struggle in the accounting courses, because I find it difficult to be an A student in a class that I despise. Having a summer GPA of 3.0 isn't going to do me any favors. Am I wrong to think this way?

Update:

After speaking to several people, both friends and current & former MAcc students, I have made a solid decision. They all told me to nut up, and pull through. The program will take me where I want to go. They are right. Nothing worth doing is every easy.
