B-schools where the first-years work their butts off

I know b-schools have a reputation for not being serious academically, and in general I suppose this is true. But there are a handful of schools where the first-years actually work really hard on their coursework (combination of culture, curriculum, etc.). So for those of you looking to just slack off during your time there, avoid these schools.

roymonditoA little insight into your methodology would probably be helpful with a statement like that

Obviously this is not a scientific study. I do however know a lot of people at various programs, and those at the schools I mentioned, for whatever reason, tend to do a lot more schoolwork during their first year. From what i understand, tuck and darden in particular have a very rigorous first-year curriculum. And sloan has non-grade disclosure, which exacerbates the situation.

from my experience that is just a myth. bschool has tons of work academically. what tends to happen is that people have so much going on in terms of recruiting, clubs, etc. that it makes it hard to balance the academics, so the perception that schools aren't rigorous may come out but thats just students choosing different priorities (often at the result of grades). but at face value there is a lot of work academically.

I don't know a single school where first years don't have to work their asses off. Sorry, but you will be sorely disappointed if you're applying to schools based on this myth.
