Cheap Apartments in or near Villanova for Villanova MSF
Hey All,
I'd like to get an apt. in or near Villanova, PA next year. But it needs to be btwn 600-700 per month to be affordable. I am also interested in living in Conshohoken, which is a town in PA which I hear has a youthful vibe (lots of bars, etc.). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

As someone who grew up right around Villanova (I took classes there in HS), I can offer a little bit of advice. Conshohocken is a better call than Villanova for a 20-something, since the Nova area is generally really pricey (once you leave campus, it's all families with lots of money). But Conshohocken isn't really that great.
The nice thing about 'Nova is that the R5 ("Paoli/Thorndale Line") has a stop right on campus, so you can live anywhere along that line and still get to campus easily. I know there a bunch of fairly cheap apartments in Wayne that are walking distance from the bars and train station (just a few stops from Nova). Wayne is definitely smaller than Conshohocken (only a couple streets of businesses), but the bars and restaurants that are there are pretty solid. One downside is it can get overpopulated with middle schoolers early on Friday/Saturday evenings, but don't hang out in Cold Stone and you'll be fine.
If you want to live somewhere with the most going on (and don't want to commute out from Philly on the train like lots of people do), I guess Conshohocken is a solid bet. But I will warn you that the commute on the Blue Route (I-476) or the Schuylkill (I-76) is always going to be much, much longer than it looks.
If you don't mind a longer commute, Phoenixville is more fun than Conshohocken (and Manayunk trumps both by a mile).

I lived in manayunk when I went to Nova, but you really need a car. You can do it by train, but you have to go to the city and then back to nova. Pain in the ass. Bars and area is nice though.
IMO, live near campus. This is a lock step program which allows for really close bonds to be formed. I think it is one of the best benefits of the program. Plus you can make friends with the undergrads who live on or near campus. The UGs area great and they are people you deff want to know. Nova bars can be clique ish, but they are fun.
Not as fun as 'Cuse bars lol
Conshi is a decent option also. If you are older or do your own thing, live in the city. It's a 20 minute train ride and an extra 130 a month, but the city is fun and it will make interning easy.

Well I may not have a car. I'm trying to be close to bars and at the same time live close to the subway to get to Nova easily. Plus I want to be near other fellow young people (20s). Is this doable in Conshi?
Most college students live in Bryn Mawr of Conshy. Bryn Mawr would be a good place if you're an undergrad and have roommates. Conshy is better if you're a little bit older since it offers decent bars and a mix of students and young working professionals. Manayunk, in my opinion, is too far to live if you work or go to school in the Villanova area, but fun area.
Manayunk is a hike.
Live in Bryn Mawr (Brin Mar). Really nice area. I went to Ekta for lunch today there, right up the road from the Ferrari dealership
