Fordham vs. Trinity College (CT) for Investment Banking/Private Equity
I’m deciding between Fordham University (Gabelli) and Trinity College (CT) for undergrad, with the goal of breaking into investment banking or private equity. I was waitlisted at several target/semi-target schools, so these are my best current options.
Fordham (Gabelli School of Business) – NYC location, decent IB placements, larger alumni network in finance, but not a target school.
Trinity College (CT) – Strong liberal arts education, solid alumni connections, and some finance presence in Boston/NYC, but no dedicated business school.
Would one of these give me a better shot at IB recruiting, or should I try to transfer to a target school later? Any insights on placement, networking, or internship opportunities would be helpful!

Ultimately, both schools can lead to IB/PE opportunities with the right effort, but Fordham’s NYC advantage and business orientation make it a slightly stronger choice for your specific goals.

Go to Fordham
They are both non-targets and you’re going to have to work hard, but Fordham proximity to internships / networking will be huge advantage. Would give edge to Fordham too in terms of alumni on the street, bigger school with more of them.
Agree with Fordham. Hit the ground running and get some off-cycle internships, you'll have plenty of options. Being a finance major does help as a non-target since you'll have a head start on learning technicals (take intro accounting/finances classes as soon as possible)
Trinity is a solid school and beautiful campus, but less of a finance presence. Not the best location either, I wouldn't want to be in Hartford personally.
Student at a different NESCAC, Trinity is the way to go. The NESCAC network is very strong and will definitely help when recruiting comes. The only way I'd choose Fordham is if it was significantly cheaper.
