Getting accepted to LSE, HEC Paris, Oxford.
Hello everyone,
I'm currently in the process of applying to masters degree at HEC Paris and ESSEC (MiM parcours grande ecole), LSE Masters in Finance, Oxford MFE, LBS Masters in Finance and Columbia MFE and would love to get your two cents on my odds of getting accepted, as well as your potential advice on how to improve my chances.
Undergraduate student majoring in Finance at one of Canada's top schools (think University of Toronto, McGill, Queen's) with no experience except for 2 internships: 1 in private equity and another in investment banking (small boutiques located in Europe and the Middle East) but not in a financial center such as London, as well as volunteer work for one of the top 5 management consulting firms (think MBB/ Accenture/Deloitte). Also 2 months volunteering in a developing country.
3.71/4.0 GPA 720-770 GMAT (somewhat a wide range but I am about to take it and I think that's what I'll get) Native in English and French (dual citizenship French and Canadian), grew up in France.
Thanks!
Good profile and good gmat score. I think you have decent odds to be part of all of these programs, ESSEC primarily. Maybe Columbia would be the harder one. Which one depend on what do you want to do after: IB in London? Paris? NYC? If London no way, LBS/LSE/Oxford hands down. If NYC, obviously, Columbia. Anyway, If you mean the pre experience master, the LBS one is the MFA, not the MF, that is for professional only.
Thanks for the answer. I think Im set on working in IB or consulting in London or Paris. My top choice would be LSE Oxford or HEC Paris. How do you think I could improve my chances, considering the fact that I'll be applying in October/November for the first round?
Do you think I should wait for the second round?
Thanks
Good! Im going to apply for all of these program as well man.. and, First round is the best, no doubts about. Consider that you have two options for LSE, if you will be rejected from finance you can try for accounting and finance or other programs (I'll put economic history as second choice). You did the AW and the IR of the GMAT?
