Is a flat 3.5 GPA from HYP good enough to get interviews at HBS/GSB? Going to start at GS/MS IBD next year, and have solid EC's, GMAT ~720. Just want to know if my GPA is too low. Thanks in advance.
Possibly, but tough. Those schools have massive grade inflation, so that probably means you're bottom 50% of class. Likewise, your GMAT is below average. If you can go from GS/MS to top PE that would increase your chances substantially (or getting GMAT to 750+ to offset grades)
opsdude nailed it. H/S won't be impressed by GS/MS IBD. Go to a megafund after and crush the GMAT and you'll be competitive. Finance bucket is super competitive at H/S so it's really tough to get in as a white/asian male without a 750+ GMAT and HF/megafund on your resume.

bump, would like to hear more about this too. most threads seem to be on non-targets, would be nice to get some color on gpa req for HYPSW

I hear Princeton has deflation though. So 3.5 is still considered low and going to be a limiting factor?

Thanks for the advice guys. So my 3.5 GPA shouldn't be an issue for HBS/GSB if I can get my GMAT to 750+ and get in MF?
