How do I recover from a 3.1 GPA in my first 2 years of undergrad?

Hi guys,

I wasn't sure which forum was appropriate to post this in so I posted it under business schools. I just started my 3rd year at a good Canadian university (Schulich) and am majoring in Finance. My accumulated GPA in my first two years was terrible (3.1). I had no sense of very low self-esteem and no sense of direction or motivation to study or do well in school, however now I am extremely motivated and thats all in the past. I am confident that I can pull mostly A/A+'s for the final two years of my program. Additionally, master's programs in Canada only look at your GPA for your final two years.

My question is, as someone aspiring to get into the finance industry, and one day do investment banking, is there any hope of me getting into the industry? Can I use a master's program to my advantage, as I can get into some top-tier master's program here with a high GPA in my final 2 years. Any insight would be appreciated!

I had a sub 3.0 at a good non-ivey and got into banking. get a 3.7+ your last two years and network like crazy. If that fails you probably didn't try hard enough.. but stop feeling sorry for yourself because your not in hole you can't get out of - you'll just have to work harder than most to make up for it.
