How is Cornell's Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management for Finance Careers?
For careers in investment banking, management consulting, or financial analyst jobs, how is Dyson AEM in terms of recruitment and placement on wall street or other business firms?
Amazing... Just look at the rankings. Lots of competition in NYC, but a degree from Dyson will get you an entry-level position in finance in every city of America. I was in Dyson for a while, but left for USC Marshall because I knew I wanted to live and work in LA.
It's excellent for banking but recruitment for consulting is almost nonexistent at Cornell. They take kids from the top two consulting clubs and that's about it. If you're deadset on consulting, you're probably better off in Arts and Sciences doing econ which is also viewed equally by banks as Dyson is. In any case, Cornell will definitely get you on the street, even if you're ILR, just because of the huge number of alumni. JPM and BAML both take a large amount of kids from here

So I applied to MPS ABEIC at Cornell Dyson(AEM) in late October, and I've been accepted. I applied to Vanderbilt and MIT in first week of this month and to SSE in Dec(interviewed) and so far, I haven't heard anything from them.
Now, I have a lot of time to make a decision and accept Cornell's offer(two months, starts in fall). To be honest, Vanderbilt is my favorite of all, and I don't think I'll be able to get into MIT because I have an accounting background and don't have the prerequisites(not planning on taking them at all unless they waive them based on my CFA), but I applied anyway because it didn't hurt. SSE was more of a safety for me, I love the program, great curriculum and location, great school, but it is 2 years. The only reason I applied to Cornell was because they have a lot of Finance electives, the Ivy league brand, and the ABEIC(business concentration) accepted GMAT. The only issue is placements. They're mostly in agribusiness, entrepreneurship, real estate, accounting firms, and only one guy got into pe firm last year.
Secondly, in worst case scenario(if I don't get into Vanderbilt), is it going to be worth it to accept AEM'S/Dyson offer? The AEM undergraduate is one of the best, I'm just not sure about MPS.

I know Cornell is highly regarded but I hadnt heard much of this program so was hoping someone would shed some light on it for me. Example, how does it compare with programs such as Duke MMS, etc
