How is the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis?

I know the school is regarded very well for academics, given it's average standardized test scores beat the Ivies. How is the recruiting though, and why isn't this school ranked higher? It used to be like 12 on US News (which I guess changed their system to rank or something?)

people on this forum have no idea what they’re talking about when they shit on wash u Olin. it’s far better than Kelley, osu, Illinois, etc. and on par with northwestern and Michigan Ross. it’s a great school, work hard from there and you’ll do well.

I would agree. I almost went there last year and was incredibly impressed by their admit students day. They are strictly business and I was blown away to see their placements- which are probably on par with where I currently attend. The facilities and campus are also incredible as is their focus on collaborative learning and presentations. There’s a reason their acceptance rate is below 7%.

WashU Olin is a great school and a semi-target for both IB/Consulting; however, some of the placement is due to the fact that a lot of the kids there come from money. It has the highest median family income of any college in the US at $272,000 so keep that in mind if you come from a lower income background.

You know how averages work right? 55% of students get financial aid at Wash U and the average median family income is $60,000. So there's probably a lot of students there whose parents make under $100k, but then there's also a lot of kids there who have a dad (19 times out of 20 it's the dad according to the data) who kills it and makes $500k a year. These types of families always have major connections across finance.

I do want to make clear that Wash U is an incredible school and provides a lot of great opportunities, but wanted to point out that there is a significant chunk of the school coming from wealthy backgrounds.

I do not know how it stacks up to Georgetown, but it is a brand new program. I am currently in it and I am extremely impressed.

Yut!
