How to Network From a Target School

Hello, I am an incoming sophomore at Georgetown University MSB, and I am so lost in how to network. I am currently doing an internship at a top medical device company in corporate development. I assume that my experience could help me break into IB in some fashion. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how I should approach networking and cold emailing. At school, I am involved in my fraternity and nothing else. I also got my internship because my dad is an executive at the company I am at currently. Thanks for the help.

As mentioned, try your best to join the investing and finance clubs at your school. I think networking itself is a learned skill, not one that can be taught, and certainly not over a WSO comment. I would start emailing seniors at Georgetown and ask them about their process recruiting and how they got to where they are. Once you get more comfortable with that, I'd branch out to alumni. Your first few calls will probably be awkward, but that's just how it is. As you get more practice, conversations will flow smoother and you'll be much more confident. It's important to get these few awkward calls out of the way before you start networking with people that are a lot more influential on your career prospects.
