Is MBA average experience given in class profile the experience at matriculation or at the time of application?

Matriculation.
Do you think it'd be okay to apply with 4 years when the average is 5 years? Because I'll have 5 at matriculation then. I asked this question in GMATClub and some consultant said it was below the average.
4 years of experience is fine from what I’ve seen. Plenty of people in my bschool class had 4 years, it’s once you have than 2-3 that it may raise some red flags.
How many people had 2-3? I was considering applying with 3
There were fewer with 3, but as long as it was good work experience (promotions/upward movement during that short time period) they usually did well.
I know a couple with 2 years who had a tougher time with recruiting because employers wanted to see more work experience and leadership/promotions.

If applied with 3, and matriculate at 4, wouldn't that be OK given that many people switch to a new job in the 3rd or 4th year of their careers?
It's at matriculation.
And averages are averages because people get in with average, above average, and below average amounts.
More important than the quantity is the quality of work experience. Can you show growth, increasing responsibility, leadership and teamwork? If you can, you're work experience will be competitive. If you can't, then your five years will not be (good) enough.
