Is the Yale MA in Intl/Dev Economics worth it?
I am an American first year student at a top tier (but not in finance...) university in Europe. I was wondering if the Yale Masters in International and Development Economics is worth considering. I am planning on enrolling in a preprofessional masters program (think Mfin, Msc fin, M. in Financial Econ, etc.) after graduation for two reasons. First being for branding (recruiting?) purposes since my school in not particularly well known stateside. Second is to gain a more applied academic background since I'm majoring in economics. If my short term goal is American IB (ideally with an international coverage focus), would this program be worth considering relative to the finance specific programs? My initial thoughts are that it has the Yale brand and has the option to take classes at SOM, but I'm really not sure about the depth of its career prospects. Thoughts? Thanks!
Anyone?
Why did you go abroad for school if you wanted to work in the US?
Sorry for the late response, I chose to go to school abroad mostly for the experience and the academic rigor of the program. Additionally I liked how politically active the culture of the school was.
"Finally, while a significant fraction of IDE students continue their academic training to obtain further degrees, the program is not intended as a gateway to Yale's Ph.D. Program in Economics. While IDE students have gone on to Ph.D. programs in other schools and departments at Yale, we encourage graduates who wish to pursue a Ph.D. in Economics to do so at another university. "
