IU Kelly vs. ND (non-Mendoza) vs. uMich (non-Ross)

Hey guys,

I am a rising sophomore at a non-target school with a ton of ECs 3.8 GPA, and I have a PWM under my belt. I definitely have made up my mind to transfer schools after my sophomore year, but I need to make up my mind about where I want to go. I need some help on deciding between IU Kelly, ND (non-Mendoza), and uMich (non-Ross). I realize the latter 2 business schools aren't transfer-friendly and Kelly would be almost a sure thing. I am also thinking about applying to UVA and Cornell's business schools.

I assume your question is posed with the goal of an IBD job in mind.

If that's the case I'd recommend IU if you get into the business program. They have a specific track (or club - I'm not really sure what it is) for investment banking, and get recruited for both Chicago and NYC locations at quite a few of the major firms.

It is possible to get a job outside the business school at ND and Michigan, but you have to do all the work yourself and even then you're still at a disadvantage to the kids in that program.

Don't know as much about UVA or Cornell.

I don't think UVA and Cornell have undergrad business schools

Ban him

I second this.

Undergrad: UVA (McIntire) Cornell (Dyson)

Both coincidentally have grad programs of different names: UVA (Darden) Cornell (Johnson)

Robert Clayton Dean: What is happening? Brill: I blew up the building. Robert Clayton Dean: Why? Brill: Because you made a phone call.

Ah didn't know AEM and school of commerce were considered UG business programs. My bad. Feel free to listen to the guy with 17 posts and ban me.

I personally don't really care for rankings, but...

2 & #3

Agreed, they both have great placement. I just made the mistake of thinking they weren't "business schools".

The reason I said that was because you obviously will spout out untrue info. in the future that can confuse people. All you had to do was do a quick google search and see if what you were thinking was right, and yet, you erroneously made an uninformed comment. But yeah, maybe we should listen to the guy that doesn't know UVA has a top undergrad b school.

You're right. Knowing that McIntire is a business school is more important than having industry experience. Apologies for my lack of priorities.

I think it matters most what kind of work you want to do after graduating.

The banking workshop at Kelley places very well, but that doesn't really matter if you are interested in doing something else. Either through your own network or maybe even from this forum, try to find people to talk to from these specific schools/programs who are doing what you are interested in doing. You can start by being more specific with what career path you're interested in (banking, private wealth, consulting, etc.), and maybe you'll get more responses.

TCB... you know taking care of business
