Ivey vs Warwick

I'm in a huge dilemma. Essentially I have to choose between international management with finance at the University of Warwick in the UK or Ivey aeo status. Ultimately I want a career in IB at a BB/EB, but then again, I want to enjoy my university experience and have no regrets. Is the IB scene big in Toronto compared to London? Should I take the risk and be an AEO. Any insight would be beneficial.

As far as I can see, Warwick is perhaps the strongest non-London/Oxbridge target uni in the UK (maybe Durham is better?). They send a lot of students to BBs and EBs. A quick LinkedIn search will reveal that - they also land very well in Big 4, and other Corp Dev roles so you really can't go wrong with them.

Warwick isn't actually in Warwick, but in Coventry which is a bit dead, but as a campus university, you can still have an enjoyable time or head down to Birmingham/Leamington Spa if you really want a nice night out.

London's IB scene is massive compared to Toronto! Literally no comparison. Pretty much every noteworthy bank has an office there, from all BBs, and most EBs, in addition to other smaller boutiques.

I don't know enough about Ivey, but if you do decide with Warwick, then you can't go wrong. Good luck!

Durham is not better than Warwick.

Everyone at Warwick stays in Leamington Spa which is a nice student area, you will not be bored.

I've read on this site that Iveys recruiting pipeline for banks in the USA has been shut down because trump changed the tn visa policy. Is it still possible to get a job in the USA from Ivey?

Really depends on your goals, if you want to work in IB in London then Warwick's a top target in the finance world, just behind Oxbridge/LSE. Also depends on the vibe you're looking for, Warwick's a campus uni in a small city so it is it's own kind of student bubble which is attractive to many, but lame for those who'd rather be in a big city and go to a less campus-centric university.

Also, though Coventry is quite a dead city, first year you'll live on Campus so it's no issue as most student-life will take place on campus and most clubs will be in Leamington Spa . After first-year, most fully move out to Leamington Spa where there's a majority student population, and a lot more of a lively place than Coventry. Can't say much for Toronto, UK-based so don't know shit

yes you will be in the sense that management is a joke but management is still an ok course to do and get into good jobs. just take the finance classes, attend the societies and get the spring week internships which you convert to summer then to FT.

see if you can maybe do engineering business management or maybe international business studies. think theyre 4 year courses and more chances for internships / abroad semesters etc

I used to study at Management at Warwick Business School. During your 2nd and 3rd year you have so many electives modules and you can "switch" your degree from Management to Management with Finance. You do exactly the same things as A&F students but their accounting is mandatory.

Since Iveys pipeline to the USA is significantly reduced than would there be more competition for Toronto investment banking jobs?

Degree doesn’t matter tbh and if you do calculus in high school and have a high grade they’ll let you transfer into a&f.
