Just read that Wharton and MIT are considered "Formulaic" in applications, what does that mean?
Apparently MIT, Wharton, and Columbia are more formulaic to get into. Just curious as to what that means and if that somehow could apply to me.

That probably just means they take into account GPA and GMAT scores more than essays and recommendations. I could be wrong though.
Here's the formula for the schools you mention.
95th percentile GMAT Top undergrad (Ivy or similar) Banking, PE, HF, VC, top consulting, or similar experience Minority 3.7+ undergrad GPA
Pick any three of the above; there's your formula. Pretty simple. Get to it.
yeah this is pretty much true... I'd say if you went to HYP for UG you can get away with 2.5...
Um, I hope you're not being serious here. A HYP ug with a 2.5 gpa is not getting into ANY top 10 b-school or most likely even top 15. HYP has massive grade inflation; you would have to be either dumb (legacies, meathead athlete recruit) or lazy to get below a 3.5 at HYP.
Sup Brady, good to have you back buddy.
I am dead serious. But I didn't mean a 2.5GPA, I meant you could get away with 2.5 of the 3 strongpoints mentioned in the quoted post... context.
Haha its definitely Brady. I liked the original better though.
yeah you're right... nothing says full-on retard with no hope in life like a 3.4 Applied Math grad from Harvard...
you should refrain from speaking
Oh good I've got 4 of those. Thanks, that makes me feel better actually!
I read an interesting essay related to this, but I can't remember exactly where/when it was (poets and quants, probably)... What it said was that the vast majority of kids at these schools had either (1) attend one of 10 or so undergraduate schools OR (2) worked at one of 10 or so companies... whether it be from UG or from a banking/consulting analyst program.... they require "a stamp", then beyond that there are GMAT thresholds for each ethnicity, etc, and that's a good 80% of the admissions process. I'm paraphrasing this one, but that's pretty much what the article said and the statistics were compelling.

The companies link is at the bottom of the article. Also, there are a few other schools they have studied (I think Columbia, HBS, Stanford, Tuck, Booth, & Johnson).
also... you seem new.
