LBS MFA and HEC MIF interview, any tips?

Hi,

I will most probably have an interview for LBS MFA and HEC MIF programme. My profile you can find in this post: https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/msc-financ…

My question is, what kind of questions should I expect on these interviews, and how to prepare for interviews? The interviews will be about my ultimate post-grad goals, why these universities and why this career path or something else is to be expected?

Regards!

Hey Xemo!

I already had both, so I believe that I can give some insights.

Regarding HEC, I would say that is totally depends on your profile. As I had a strong profile with a long-term internship in Private Equity, the interview was mainly technical. Very difficult questions. However, I know some guys that, given they did not have previous experience in finance, their interviews were mainly motivational. So it really depends on your profile, but be ready to know your technicals well.

Concerning the LBS, it is a chilled interview. It is only personal, where you have to elaborate on previous experiences of leadership, your opinions on the program and recent news that you found interesting. It is also way longer than HEC’s, expect from 45mins to an hour.

Good luck!

Thanks for that! I had both interviews and they went exactly as you have described. I already some experience in finance and valuations, so I received questions related to company finances (leveraged refinancing, beta, CAPM) during my interview with HEC, while the interview at LBS was mainly motivational, with several questions regarding the current news coverage. Finally I got admitted to HEC (1st choice, extremely happy :D), and rejected at LBS.

Hey! Thanks a lot! Just a quick question, out of the 25-minute interview, how long was the technical part? Any other insights would be really appreciated!
