LSE Msc Finance 2025 Update

Saw some negativity surrounding the program and its placements on this site last year but curious how this past cycle has been for those in the program. Is it still a top target alongside Ox/LBS at the UK Msc level or a tier below?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, the LSE MSc Finance program remains a top-tier choice for those targeting front-office roles in investment banking and private equity. It is consistently ranked alongside Oxford's MFE and LBS's MFA as a Tier 1 program in the UK. The program is highly regarded for its strong placement in IB and occasionally PE, with recruiters in the City showing a preference for LSE graduates.

While there may have been some negativity in the past, the program's reputation and placement outcomes continue to make it a standout option. The requirements for the program include a first-class degree, and while the GMAT is optional, a score above 700 is often recommended. Work experience is considered a bonus but not mandatory. Overall, LSE MSc Finance remains a top target at the UK MSc level.

It is a tier below Oxford and LBS but much closer to LBS than Oxford. Placements are really hit or miss and depend largely on experience, whereas in LBS you can have slightly less experience and have slightly better chances because it's better renowned as a vocational postgraduate programme.

Ultimately I would put it in between LBS and Imperial, but even Imperial has its own merits with the option to extend by a semester.

Interesting, thanks. How would you compare their A&F program vs. Imperial's flagship?
