Masters profile review

Hi all,
I am trying to get a sense of whether I should apply for Bocconi Msc Finance or my safety choice ESCP MiM. I am an italian from a pretty good public university in Italy.
My stats are:
GPA:29,1/30
GRE:324(157V,167Q)
XP:3 months in an accounting firm, hope to get something more related to finance before applying.
No international xp.
Would I comfortably get in my first choice or should I apply to some other less competitive courses?

Hey there! Based on the most helpful WSO content, both Bocconi MSc Finance and ESCP MiM are excellent choices. Your GPA and GRE scores are quite impressive, and your experience in an accounting firm is a good start.

For Bocconi, it's known for its strong placement in Milan and its rigorous course content. It's a popular choice among Italians and has a strong network. However, it's also quite competitive.

On the other hand, ESCP MiM offers a good placement in London and a more international experience. It's a less intense course compared to Bocconi and could be a good option if you're looking for a different university on your CV.

Given your background, I'd say you have a good shot at both. However, it's always wise to consider other options as well. Remember, the choice should align with your career goals and where you see yourself in the future.

And remember, no matter where you end up, it's not just about getting in - it's about making the most of the opportunity. So, keep swinging from those branches, and you'll land where you're meant to be!

Coming from the MSc in Fin at Bocconi, I can tell you all the pros and cons. It's a challenging and intense course, no matter how strong and capable you are. What makes it harder is the fact that, while you're trying to stay on top of studying and doing assignments, you have to think about applications, student associations and having a life outside of uni. There are many way to approach it, but if you want to end up in banking you have to take this all pretty seriously. As for the pros, you are very well trained both mentally and professionally, because you learn how to thrive in a quite overwhelming environment, and academically speaking I believe few other universities can prepare you as well as Bocconi. Gives you opportunity both in Milan and outside (I did both).

ESCP on the other hard has very good international placement for sure, and you can visit different campuses in Europe (def a plus!), but academics are not as strong. Does that matter? It's really up to you to understand what you value most. I know some very top people from ESCP, as well as others that are pure scam. Whereas everyone coming out of a Bocc Fin Msc is top tier. Bear in mind that there is place for everyone: in a banking environment, you will have people who are extremely skilled at excel, very analytical and technical, and other who are way better at the relationship part. Both are needed to be a top banker, you decide what aligns the most with your profile.

Personally, despite being extremely happy about my background, going back I would not take an MSc in Italy again, but prob not ESCP either (maybe HEC).

Now, as for auctionability, I am not 100% sure your GRE score will get you into Bocc Fin (I see that GRE 324 is equivalent to GMAT 670), as GMAT scores are usually 700+ and have probably gotten higher since I applied. Try to get a sense of where you can aim by asking people who have gotten into Bocconi/ESCP this year, so you'll have the latest stats.
