MBA

Hey everyone,

I’m reaching out for some advice on an important decision I’m trying to make. Here’s a bit about my situation:

I recently got into Wake Forest’s MBA program, which I’m really excited about, but I’ve also been accepted to the University of Oklahoma for their Econometrics program. I’ve got a background in economics, having completed my undergrad in the field, and I’ve been working in finance for the past 4 years in Charlotte.

Now, I’m caught in a bit of a dilemma: while I’ve always been interested in econometrics, I’m considering switching to the Master of Finance track at Oklahoma instead. The thing is, I’m not sure how well-recognized the University of Oklahoma is, particularly in finance, compared to Wake Forest’s MBA program, which is highly respected (at least regionally).

So, my questions are:

  1. How would you weigh the pros and cons of the MBA from Wake Forest versus a potential Master’s in Finance or Econometrics from Oklahoma?
  2. How important is the university’s recognition and reputation in finance, especially given that I already have four years of experience in the field?

I’m leaning towards a program that will provide solid opportunities both in finance and beyond, but I’m still unsure which direction will offer the best long-term impact. The long term goal is to end up on the sell-side

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
