Need Advice - Non trad w/ global macro end goal

Was an art history major at target university (I.e studied commodities and currencies via art history) and have been working as a real estate transaction paralegal for about a year after school. My long term end goal is to work at a global macro fund or pod, because it’s what interests me the most, and was wondering what the best path would be; CFA, Masters in Econ, MBA? Was really trying to decide between CFA and MBA and would appreciate any insight. Thank you.

I have to ask (and so will potential employers) : why macro focus for you?

There is no doubt that MBA is the best full-pivot option. Still, it is not really an obvious pivot to macro hedge fund investing.

I would advise you to start networking as soon as possible, to learn as much as you can from practitioners about the job you think you want and hear from them the best paths in the door .

My experience with macro style investing has been that is more technical / quantitative as usually practiced, so finding out which shops have a more nuanced approach or more open mind about background will probably be important.

As with all investing, it is about making a start and then iterating to learn.
