Picking a School

Hi everyone. I'm in high school, and hoping to work in IB. I recently was accepted into UC Berkeley, USC, UCLA, Cornell, NYU, Columbia, UMich, Emory, UVA, and Vanderbilt (all for either business econ or similar).I truthfully have no idea what school to choose, I'm shocked and super excited about all of these options! I love how specialized USC Marshall and Cornell Dyson are, but I've heard NYU, Cal, Columbia, or UMich might be better for IB?If anyone can give their opinion, or went to any of these schools and wants to share their experience, please feel free!!! For reference, not much of a partier and here to focus on school (parents are paying I can't risk grades slipping)

If what you want to do is work on wall street, Columbia is probably going to be the best one on your resume for entry level, and most likely have the most campus recruiting opportunities, and being local in NY is a big advantage for networking. Columbia is also a great school for non wall street careers. However what people often forget here, is that getting in to columbia does not mean you will be successful there, and it is a very competitive school for undergrads, and has a substantial core that means you will have to do well in non quant classes, so you need to consider that as well.

UCLA sophomore here. From what you said and your options, don’t go here or USC for that matter. Both huge party schools and not really considered targets outside of California. If cost is a big consideration for you, I can’t imagine USC being very cheap, and UCLA is only cheaper for in-state residents.

Would personally take Cornell, NYU, or Columbia bc they’re strong targets, although mad expensive. Can’t say much more bc I don’t go to there.

Cal is good, probably similar strength to USC, places a lot in SF obviously. Tbh, unless you are an in state student or cost is very important to you, you should not even consider either cal/UCLA unless you have a very strong preference to working and living in California over NY.

If the conviction isn’t there, go to an east coast target. Much easier to go from Columbia/NYU/Cornell to SF/LA than from UCLA/USC/Cal to NY in most cases. Many la offices even have spots allocated to their east coast targets, not the case in NY.
