Real Estate to MBA

How common is it go from a top Real Estate Private Equity or Real Estate Debt Fund to an MBA? (Think Apollo/KKR/Ares/Oaktree). I know a lot of institutional investors like seeing a big MBA name on the partners when they are looking to invest, so I'm considering going for a HBS/GSB/Wharton after 3-4 years in the industry.. I would assume this is very doable but are there any things I could do to optimize my chances?

That background is plenty good enough to get into H/S/W, or at least H/W. Real estate isn’t as overrepresented as consulting or general finance so you’re a little more interesting than others are. Those are all strong enough shops to get you into the top bschools as long as the rest of your application is solid.
