Recruiting for London from US Target SA 2025
Currently recruiting for US SA 2025 but honestly think my odds of landing something good are low. I go to an Ivy (not HYP), have a 3.8 and a decent resume. But I have done no networking and don’t know any technicals. Going to try to cram but doubt I will be successful since even the people at my own uni are better prepared.
I am also a UK and US dual national and family still lives in the UK so I was thinking about shooting for London as well since I would have more time to prep. However uncertain about how to navigate networking. My school has basically no analyst/associates in London, only Directors and MD’s so there’s not many people to reach out to. Should I just email random people? If so I imagine that my response rate would be very low. Is networking for London going to make a difference? How easy is it to get a full time offer in the US if you interned in London?
Also curious about whether people think I have a better shot in London or the USA
the recruitment process in London is different to US. Read this

Currently going the other way but London is zero networking and all assessments + other tests which eventually lead to a 1st round then Assessment Centre(Superday).
Complete crapshoot and best way in is through Spring Weeks (Barclays opened today) but everywhere else is already full.
Currently better deal volume and more action in New York.
Much easier to do two years in New York and go to London than the other way around.
Agreed that New York would be way better for my career but having 0 knowledge about finance I struggle to see how I’m going to learn technicals in such a short space of time and network. This is on me but I feel like I’ve missed the boat for NY.
I'm Canadian and did a similar thing and recruited for summer 2024 in London because I want to work abroad in my twenties and Toronto IB gets a pretty bad rap tbh. I had two Superdays at BB firms (called Assessment Centres) and got an offer for both. I did basically zero networking to make that happen. I reached out to a bunch of people on LinkedIn, etc. and only one person responded. She was super helpful in giving some interview advice, but ultimately it's not make or break for London IB. Plus you're so far removed being across the world and it's pretty hard to make a real connection in a 30min phone call. I just had awesome conversations with all of the interviewers on the day and felt like I really connected with a lot of them personally. I have a strong resume and good on technicals, but I honestly think that they cared more about who I am in my personal life. We're all essentially carbon copies of each other in terms of school, GPA, internship experience, etc. At the end of the day nobody wants to be beside an asshole for 80 hours a week.
So did you have to fly out from the US for the superdays?
No, all the superdays were over video call regardless of being London based or not. Think they’re doing that more for simplicity now
