Sophomore Transfer to Cornell for better recruiting opportunities?

So, I'm currently at a semi-target school trying to transfer to a target school with better OCR for IB. I will be transferring on my sophomore year, meaning I will be a junior if I am admitted.

I really want to transfer to Cornell -- it is like like my dream school. I am also wondering whether Dyson or AEM will be more realistic to apply for(I do fill their prerequisite in terms of courses)?

My major concern is whether I should abandon the connections I make at the school I am currently, and whether I will really find my own place/make good connections after I transfer (since it would be junior fall already, it might be harder to land offer in new place)

My stats are okay-ish (HS GPA of 3.6, college freshman GPA of 3.8). Any Cornell ppl or just suggestion in general for whether I should transfer or not?

Thanks!

Have done something similar.

Depends on what semi-target you go to. To be honest, I'm not sure that my new school has benefited that greatly as I recruit, although it obviously gives people a better perception of you. So while people compliment my new school in conversation, I don't think OCR has been as drastically helpful as I first thought going in. I certainly could

If you go to a great school now, then it really depends. To me, it made sense financially, socially, and because I came from a school with very little prestige in general and I wanted to do better. So even if I got the same internship/job, I'm still glad I transferred for all those other reasons.

ex; If you go to a large state school and you can afford it, I'd say shoot for it. If you go to say, Georgetown, then I'd make sure you really want to go to Cornell.

As a side note, Dyson is extremely competitive to get into (but don't let that deter you at all please), most applicants will have a 3.8 so I'd make sure your SATs, courseload and your story (most importantly) ares trong

If you're at a semi-target and arriving at Cornell as a junior, it will have very little impact on recruiting. You wouldn't be included in any resume drops/Handshake OCR until the fall when stuff is 90% wrapped up. With networking you should be able to land IB at your current school.

If Cornell is your dream school go ahead and transfer for personal reasons, but you won't gain much of a leg up on recruiting.
