Stats slightly under, slightly younger, chance at HSW?

What are my chances at HSW given these stats below? Also, what are some typical stats for a kid with my profile?

GPA: 3.6 at top 30 school but not finance/MBA feeder GMAT: 710 Q49 / V38 native English speaker WE: 3yrs at matriculation 1yr at BB IB coverage as top bucket analyst 2yrs at $500MM L/S HF as analyst EC: heavy involvement in HS and college but no involvement since starting work LOR: 2 alums from HSW

Post-MBA goals: join >$1Bn hedge fund

I know I’m on the younger side and 710 isn’t much to write home about. But I wanted to see if there’s even a shot. I see all the stats on the class profile pages are slightly higher, but curious if HF route makes any difference vs. PE/MBB candidate?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, your profile does have some strong points, but there are also areas that could be improved.

Your GPA and GMAT score are slightly below the average for HSW (Harvard, Stanford, Wharton), but they are not deal-breakers. Your work experience is impressive, especially your position as an analyst at a $500MM L/S HF. This could potentially set you apart from other candidates.

However, your extracurricular involvement seems to have dropped off since you started working. This could be a potential red flag for admissions committees, as they often look for well-rounded candidates who contribute to their communities.

Your letters of recommendation from HSW alumni could be a strong point in your application, as they can provide a personal testament to your abilities and potential.

As for your post-MBA goals, they are clear and ambitious, which is a good thing. However, you might want to think about how you can tie these goals back to your past experiences and what you hope to gain from an MBA at HSW.

In terms of your age, being on the younger side could potentially be a disadvantage, as the average years of work experience for HSW is usually around 4-5 years. However, this is not a hard and fast rule, and there are always exceptions.

Overall, while your stats are slightly below average for HSW, your unique work experience and clear post-MBA goals could potentially make you a strong candidate. However, you might want to consider ways to boost your extracurricular involvement and possibly retake the GMAT to improve your chances.
