I am interested in the MSF program at TAMU, but was wondering if anyone has any info beyond what is on their website. If you are a current or former student, your input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for the help!

SMU is much better and easy to get into.
I'm super biased, but Texas (McCombs) is much much better than any other program in the state. A&M has decent placements out of their MSF but McCombs places at a similar level to Vandy.
From what I understand, A&M's program is pretty quant-y and, until recently, it has historically been comprised of kids in a 5 year program at A&M.
This is patently false as SMU's domestic placements are similar to UT's. Neither place that well into banking, both have good F500 placements. I'd say UT does better in consulting. Vandy and Nova do not even place at similar levels so that comparison is also nonsensical.
You are an idiot. Vanderbilt's MSF is right now the best one after MIT. They're strong in the south and Texas
IB placements are growing. The past two years, it's been around 15-20% but everyone who actually wants banking gets it. And we're not talking guys going to small boutiques either.
Villanova's placements suck. Don't compare UTA to Nova. They're comparable to Boston College, 50-60% placements.
That bad? Yikes, well you learn something new everyday.
Ok, pick another school that places like Vandy and McCombs is going to be similar. Only people that aren't placed are those who aren't looking for a job.
TAMU is a good program. Used to be only open to TAMU undergrads, but now open to outside students. I do think UTA and SMU have better placements, but that doesn't mean it's a bad program.
UTA tends to favor non business students for some reason. This will skew placements into more non banking roles. The UTA brand is huge though. SMU revamped their program a couple years ago and are coming on strong. Really good placements. I definitely think they are strong program, especially in Texas.
Vanderbilt has some of the best placements in the country. But they also have a strong southern focus. Villanova places entirely in the north east. Their placements do not "suck" by any measure.
As for Boston, they don't really advertise their placements, but I'm confident in saying it is a good program. It's been around for a long time, has both a Ft and pt option and a strong alumni base. If you're sure you want to work in the north east I'd 100% consider them.
They did "advertise" them. Check out their website, class of 2014 with 50-60% placed. Villanova is not what it used to be. For education, and if you can't afford others, it's good. But prepare to work very hard with little room for social life. Just being realistic.
Boston Colleges career page is limited at best. Last year Villanova had great placements. And every msf program is hard. I've met with msf students at programs across the country and all work hard, but find time to socialize.
Thanks for the input guys, really appreciate it. TAMU is significantly cheaper than programs like UT and SMU. It's difficult for me to determine whether the value gained from those programs is that much higher than TAMU's.
all you're paying is a network access to be honest. they're not hiring you for 5 or 10 extra classes you took. that's why UTAustin could be worth the bang with top 10 MBA in house. Also SMU with its richer$$ alumni network, or Vanderbilt/WUSTL's b-school networks.
A&M is a quant school and has the best, the best Statistics department. however it's not as relevant to their b-school status. probably a good placement because UTAustin grads would be too much of flight risks to "big firms" for local places.
