The Ultimate Debate - Cornell Dyson vs. Michigan Ross
I'm a HS senior interested in IB/PE/HF making the ultimate decision: Cornell Dyson vs. Michigan Ross.
I'm from an NYC suburb, so I'm receiving a $20k discount on tuition at Cornell that my parents are letting me keep for future expenses, and I'll be bringing my car so that I can come home somewhat easily. Proximity to home is a major factor for me, and even though a flight from Ann Arbor is about the same duration, a car puts me on my own schedule, while at Michigan, I'm at the whim of Delta's flight schedule/delays. However, after visiting Cornell, the campus/Ithaca seemed somewhat dead, relative to the liveliness of Ann Arbor; not sure if it's because it was a rainy weekend though. I have friends at both, I can find a roommate at both, and knowing myself, I'll be fine with Greek life at both. Any input is appreciated.
Given that 80% of this post discusses the pros of Cornell, I’d listen to your subconscious and go there. The benefits of Ross will be marginal, if any tbh.

Think opportunity set will be largely the same from these two schools, go where you will have the most fun (both socially at school, and maximizing time with family as that seems important to you). Not schools someone is going to hand you job offers for, but you will definitely get looks from both for stuff pre-IB SA recruiting.
Which schools do you think will get you “handed offers” for? I also got into UVA, USC, Stern, waitlisted Duke and Georgetown. Stern would be the obvious pick if it wasn’t >100k total cost per year.
Duke is the best of those listed. Write a letter of continued interest and see what happens — big NY base (Westchester, Manhattan Long Island etc) so you’ll definitely have a base of kids going in and great for recruiting
