Transferring out of Emory and into UGA

I'm a freshman at Emory and I'm considering transferring out to UGA. Georgia Tech is also on the table, but I've had horrible luck with Tech admissions (distance math program and undergraduate admissions). I'll be finishing the year with a 4.0, but the school just doesn't do it for me. The biggest factor is that I was left with an inheritance that is surely going to eliminate all of my financial aid, and I'm not sure the price differential is worth it without financial aid. I'm shooting for an IB gig down the line, and I'm wondering if transferring to Georgia is a suicidal move. I know Emory isn't a target, but it has a much better rep than Georgia. I am also hesitant to let go my "buffer" GPA for when classes get harder, but it's more of a secondary concern. What do you all think?

If you have 4.0 from Emory, I think there are many schools will happily give you financial aid (probably less than what you have at Emory). I think with 4.0 from GPA and decent acitiveis and SAT score, you can aim Ives imo.

Then I think it really depends on your personal willingness. I went to a not so bad state school sending 10-15kids in nyc IBD but recently transferred to one of the top Ivyes. Networking gets a lot easier, and it’s actually easier to achieve higher gpa, a lot more resources and OCR opportunity. Going good private school yes, will cost you like 200 grands or more, but I would go with it if I can afford it especially considering all the stress that I had being a non target kid

Go to UGA. Great business school and has the most bars per capita in the US.

Do UGA. A lot of friends went there and a super fun school. can’t go wrong

I would suggest applying to an transfer friendly more selective school. If you’re going to pay high tuition at Emory then you might as well lay the same tuition at a better school. Idk anything about UGA but it seems like an upward battle getting IB offer at any big state school. Apply to Vanderbilt Cornell Northwestern or Duke. Your money will be better spent going to one of those transfer friendly semi targets than Emory
