Tulane vs. WUSTL
Hello everyone.
I got admitted to Tulane's MFIN program, and am also considering WUSTL MSF program.
Can any one comment on the quality and prestige of WUSTL vs. Tulane programs?
I am not too worried about OCR IB placement or consulting etc... I subscribe to "you have to go and get it yourself, rather than have it come to you" mentality.
My background is in engineering from KU.
So basically which yields more respect?
Thanks
Dan
WUSTL I am not sure they are more respected, but they seem to have more folks in IB
Tulane is really strong in trading and energy placements. If you have an interest working in oil and gas, in Texas or want to be specifically trading I would choose Tulane. I am not sure how things are now with their MEnergy program since I think it might cannibalize from the traditional MSF program.
WUSTL was always the more quantitative MSF program (IMO). With the splitting of programs you now have the option to choose which is more to your liking. WUSTL will have a more east coast / midwestern placement. The program has been going for a while and has a lot of NYC placements.
Both programs are great and it really comes down to what you are looking to do and where.
When I think of WUSTL I think of "similar to ivy" type of mentality, I don't get the same vibe with Tulane. WUSTL (MBA, as I can't speak for the MFIN) seems to get a lot of their graduates out to the top firms from my personal research, but I don't know about Tulane. There are also those WUSTL grads that get sucked into some midwest firms that aren't that great, but a lot can pretty much go anywhere they want. Look at the WUSTL medical school ranked along with Harvard, I never heard of similar rankings in any Tulane department.
Have you gotten into WUSTL's program yet?
WUSTL'S MSF is like the country's second best. Go there.
hey guys thanks for all your replies. I have gotten into Wash U. and I intend to go there.
I appreciate your help.
