Ultra-target vs Target vs Semi-Target

How would you rank each Georgetown/Notre Dame/Michigan/Vanderbilt/UCLA compared to full blow target (HYPS etc)? Would they still be considered target?

  1. Plz stop grouping HYP realistically. It's Harvard Wharton true T1, and then YPSM arguably Uchicago in T2(per capita they are number 3 in placement but are slightly behind in quality of placements but rapidly improving)

  2. Gtown ND and Ross are lower targets but still targets.

  3. The rest are semi targets.

No, it's HYPSM that have the highest chances of placing. Wharton has way too many candidates aiming for IB with limited school quotas. HYPSM are the true top-targets in this job market along with the fact that Economics major is more challenging than business (MIT is an outlier because it is a very stem heavy school).

Georgetown, Notre Dame, and Michigan place better than Vanderbilt and UCLA. In terms of prestige and placements, Vanderbilt is far better for NY (*not affiliated with Vanderbilt). In my opinion, the difference for IB recruiting is only marginal. The differences are shown through buyside recruitment. HYPS places substantially better than Georgetown/ND/Michigan for buyside PE/HF. That's not to say non-HYPS schools like Georgetown, ND, and Michigan don't place PE/HF out of undergrad.
