what's UVA (McIntire) really like?

12th grader at the moment and interested in applying UVA for ED cycle. Can't guarantee acceptance but still willing to ask more about UVA.

1. Are top-notched career oriented clubs on campus friendly to foreigners? I'm a 100% Chinese and I'm not sure if this could be a potential problem. UVA is well-known for it's fratty culture but I'm not sure if i'm into it (not an alcohol lover). White-male may be favored in those clubs, how about asian kids?

2. UVA places kids well in both NYC and Virginia in state. I'm interested in pursuing a career in NYC first, is it hard for UVA or McIntire students to receive offer from good BB/EBs in NYC offices (may be tougher as an international student)?  What's the percentage of McIntire graduates landing NYC offices compared to the amount of Commerce graduates as a whole?

Many thanks.

1. Yes you can get into the clubs, I am friends with multiple mainlanders in MII/AIF/GMG

2. Yes we send an army to NYC every year, look at linkedin. I don't know what the percentage is but if you do the right things (good gpa/involvement, network, technicals) you will place

Edit: All of this is dependent on your English skills/immersion to be honest. If you want to pass the airport test your english/cultural awareness needs to be passable. Not to be an ass but thats the reality of it, especially for getting into the clubs.

Hi sir, appreciate your reply but just curious if things will be different right now. McIntire will be a 3 year school program and I wasn’t accepted (will be second year college student this fall). Do you think if UVA college (non McIntire) will still be perceived as a target or it’s more like semi/non-target?
