Work experience two companies before applying

Hi,

I've posted before regarding this subject, but I'm thinking of switching jobs and want to know how that will affect my chances of getting into business school.
I'm an engineer currently in Silicon Valley but feel the experience I'm gaining is not what I consider up to the quality I expected/should be and want to move back home to Southern California for another job.

If I switched jobs I would have 1.5 years of work experience at my first employer and then a little over 1.25 years of work experience at a new employer before applying in Oct/Nov of 2015. At matriculation I would have 3.8 years total work experience (1.5 about at the first employer and let's say 2.3 at the new).

Would this move be ok? (In regards to business school applications/competitiveness) or not really matter?

From what you say here, it shouldn't be a problem, and it may enhance your candidacy if the job you are moving to enhance opportunities to lead teams and influence projects. There's no exact requirement for the amount of time at your first or even second job, especially if you feel you've learned all you can learn and you will be able to practice new skills on a new job. It doesn't sound like you are simply moving to the next place in a random fashion -- most successful applicants show a purpose in their careers.

Not every job, especially Silicon Valley engineering jobs, are as exciting or opportunity-filled as you want them to be. If you think you can have a better work and life experience by changing to a better firm, why not?
