Belvedere Trading Poaches Top Janestreet Trader

I've been trying to learn more about Belvedere Trading, and I've been hearing some pretty interesting things. For starters, I heard that Jane Street's top trader was leaving for Belvedere Trading. I wasn't sure if it was true, but I heard it from multiple sources. And it turns out, it was true! This trader was responsible for a sizeable fraction of Jane Street's PNL. Belvedere offered to triple his salary, and he took it. I'm curious to know what everyone thinks about Belvedere Trading. Do they think they're a good firm? A great firm? Or just another name  like HRT, SIG, and Optiver?

I recall having a conversation with this trader (anonymous for obvious reasons) just a few days ago.

"So, you're really leaving Jane Street?" I asked, still in disbelief.

"Yep, I'm going to Belvedere Trading," he replied.

"But...but...you're one of their best traders! How could they let you go?"

"It's simple, really. Belvedere Trading offered to triple my salary, and I couldn't refuse."

"I don't know if I believe you," I said. "Jane Street is one of the best firms out there. They're not going to let their top trader leave without a fight."

"You're wrong," he said, confidently. "Jane Street is on its way down. Belvedere is the future. In five years time, they're going to be the biggest player in quant."

I was skeptical, but I had to admit, he sounded convincing.
