Fastest progression in S&T

In IBD the progression is pretty standard - every 3 years you're promoted. In S&T there are some special cases of very fast promotions, such as Kunal Shah of GS making MD in 6 years (albeit back when prop trading was at its height). What are some of the fast track promotions you've heard of? Are they still a thing in today's S&T divisions?

In theory, you could go

Analyst 2 years

Associate/AVP 2.5 years

VP 2 years

Director 2 years (?)

---

8.5 years analyst => MD

I don't think it's really possible to do any better than this outside of something really nonstandard happening like managing to jump laterally to a higher level position or something.

I knew a guy who started Mar 2015 that became Director Dec 2020... pretty much as fast as you can get these days. You need to be both good and there needs to. Be openings on the desk. He did it all in one bank but I know another guy that also got to director pretty fast (similar time scale) by lateraling.

Keep in mind you can start getting 7 figures by VP if you're good and in a good seat, so title isn't really imperative.
