Fun facts about bank traders?

Hi all,

I just discovered this forum in a search to know more about bank or securities firm employed traders.

Why?

Within 2 days I'll be interviewed by a national magazine here in my country in Europe about my job as a FX trader (self employed from home office). The interviewer asked me if I knew something about bank traders too, just to compare. To be honest, I don't, as I already told him. I'm a profitable trader but my knowledge actually is very limited, that is, to what I do from day to day.

However, you pros here might want to help me out here with some 'fun facts'?

For instance: in general, what return is expected from a junior/senior trader? How much is the average bonus? How do banks keep their trading algo's secret after you'd leave the job? What is hot right now, as for tools or research? (A.I.?) How much of a typical bank's revenue would come from their traders? Is actual client's savings money being used for trading? Anything else you could come up with?

BTW, Is a bank trader (someone working for a typical mid size bank with trading desks) a sell side or buy side trader?

Any links for more info on the subject are welcome, as I think it's a job with a lot of secrecy I can not find too much info about.

Thanks a 1000 times!

P.S. Sorry for my English ;)
