How easy/hard is it to move in different roles in a commodity trading firm?

Suppose you have a job in traffic/operations and you want to move to say trade finance, or market analysis etc.

And suppose it's a big commodity trading firm like trafigura, louis dreyfus or glencore.

Given that they basically train you from the ground up ... how easy/hard is it to move from one area of the business to the other?

I'll bite on this. Based on what I've heard from the industry for top performers the opportunities are always there. You'll need to be your own advocate and have clear reasoning.

What location are you based in? That will also have serious impact on the opportunities presented to you as some offices have different "vibes." The best answer to this question will be found by checking the Linked Ins of those you work with and those in your target area to switch into in order to verify the norm.
