Investment Strategies

Does anyone know of any good reading material that covers a broad range of investment strategies within fixed income and derivatives? For instance strategies involving bets on yield curves, spreads, basis, vol, correlation, etc.

Not looking for anything proprietary or secretive, just looking to get a more comprehensive understanding of ways that traders take bets on different aspects of the market using fixed income securities and derivatives. It seems that a lot of books tend to focus mostly on mechanics of instruments or valuation as opposed to focusing on strategies themselves.

Thanks in advance.

There is no book that will teach you this or anything of significance in that regard. Sad, but true. Any book that will probably is dated or not very good. If it is worthwhile and can make money.... people probably arent going to write books about it.

i strongly disagree with the above poster! There is alot of books on investing that are great.. authors like, peter lynch, graham, and fisher. As far as being outdated and discounted this is some what true.... ofcourse if warren buffet tried to start right now and do his thing he would fail misrebly or would he? AN INVESTMENT is an investment you find a good undervalued company with good fundementals you can make bank in the long run. But me personally trading is the new age of the financial markets. Buy and pray LMFAO thats what these books teach... i dont pray i buy and watch.

Thanks for making yourself look like a retard. First off, none of those are trading strategies nor do any of those guys actively trade anymore (well, they never did to begin with, but that is another matter). I would argue that most of those guys are examples of what is wrong when assessing how well somebody does (see Fooled By Randomness) and benefited from one of the longest secular bull cycles in existence. WB's fame and fortune revolve around a relatively tiny number of investments that turned out to be homeruns--which could have come completely by chance for all we know.

Anyway, good job not even understanding what the OP or I was saying or even what trading entails.

I understand what you're saying, and based on the title of the thread you would have some ground to stand on, but if you actually read the OP's post, you'll notice what he's looking for specifically are trading strategies, not investment strategies.

In fact, he says "It seems that a lot of books tend to focus mostly on mechanics of instruments or valuation as opposed to focusing on strategies themselves."

For the most part I agree with Jerome, you can find options strategies etc in books, but the real world execution is not something that can easily be obtained from books and non-proprietary material, at least in my experiences.
