Prince William sets trading record

Prince William has broken City records with a €17billion (£14.2billion) currency deal while taking part in a charity event at brokerage firm ICAP.
The newly engaged RAF officer was dressed for his role as a currency trader in a sharp navy-suit but was the only one - the staff of ICAP dressed up as everything from bananas to Batman (and in one case an RAF pilot).
"I have got Batman and Robin standing either side of me... They are very slow here. I have had to come and give them some help," the Prince joked.
And help them he did. The completed £14.2billon deal he helped broker between Barclays and Credit Suisse was greeted with applause from the room, as it broke the record for the largest voice-brokered, forward, foreign exchange deal.
But rather than increasing bankers' bonuses, all the profits from the deal — along with all the other deals done by ICAP that day — will go to charity. Last year the City firm made more than £11million as it donated its day's profits to a range of 200 charities, including one - Skill Force — which Prince William is the patron of.
William was joined in the event by his father — who was involved in a string of trades as well - and a host of stars, including Daniel Craig, David Tennant and Geri Halliwell.
Thats a pretty cool concept.
I believe Goldman's PR department is setting up a similar event where they donate a days profits to al-Qaeda.

Cool concept though maybe this will help reduce the hatred for wall street/banks in general...or it'll just highlight how much traders can make and exascerbate the issue...pretty funny al-Qaeda joke though haha

I wouldn't call him a recordsetting trader when he was acting as an interdealer broker, its a bit like saying Barry Bond's bat boy holds the record for most homers in a single season.
That aside, of course I'd love to be him, and the event is pretty cool and for a good cause.

I agree that it's a cool concept, I'm glad companies are taking a bit of initiative on the CSR front, but one thing that irks me a bit is how celebrities are using their fame to leverage their way into the record books, so to speak. I feel like actual bankers should hold records for the work they do, not celebs.
^---- dude, there are no banker "record books" get real. It was reported once in the media and it was only reported because Prince William is the one who did it, if it was just a run of the mill trade but a very large one, none of us would have even heard of it. Its Prince William thats making it noteworthy, not the trade/size of the trade.
