Yes
Would really appreciate if can elaborate a bit
Some people can shed more light, but It is possible. It is definitely a plus to have when applying but not a requirement.
You’ll have an easier time if you’re referring to a SA stint. For FT it is quite competitive across the board so, in the absence of related experience, programming is definitely a plus.
Also, FX is quite advanced in the automation process. Some banks will probably require it.
I would say maybe 50% of my SA class had SOME programming knowledge.
But it is never impossible. Networking is the single, most important factor.
You know the answer. Yes. Should you learn it? Yes.
You looking for any possible excuse to not learn it? Seems like a yes. Learn it. Before you have a fulltime job, girlfriend, obligations post grad.
I don't see how programming is useful in S&T. You are basically talking to clients or executing orders.
Do you even work in S&T? To back test any kind of simple trading strategy like fading a 1sd intraday move is infinitely easier if you can program.
I never said I work in S&T. Just exploring the field and don't you only devise trading strategies in prop trading? For trading in S&T, from what I read you simply fill orders from clients.
