reporting trading P/L to future employer

Hey Monkeys,

I have a quick question. How do you report and verify your trading P&L to a future employer? For instance, let's say you made the desk $1.5 mill net. besides writing it on your resume and hoping for the best, do you get your desk head to verify it? I am just curious as to how people don't just lie and jump for saying they are doing $1.5 mill on their current desk, but report $3 mill to a future employer, etc...

Thanks!
