Sales&Trading loan exit opportunities
I am a 30-year-old Sales Trader working in a boutique bank based in Amsterdam.
I started out as Interest Rate Derivatives Analyst at MS (~2 years), then I moved to the buy side (AM) as Fixed Income Associate (1.5 year) and, after that, I finally managed to land a front office job as Sales Trader, specialised in loans: financial institutions, sovereigns and leveraged finance.
I do believe that is time for a change. Unfortunately, after Brexit, Amsterdam hasn’t become a real financial hub as many people were hoping mainly due to the bonus cap for banks (AMs and prop trading companies follow different rules) and the work culture as well, way too soft. I am looking to relocate somewhere else: London, Dubai, or Asia (HK or Singapore) but the loan market isn’t as liquid and active as it used to be.
I would need to make a choice: either switch to bond trading, without any previous experience, or opt for a pure sale job in any fixed income division, preferably a big bank again.
Any advice or consideration will be more than appreciated, thanks!
