Santander S&T 2027 vs BMO S&T 2027
Luckily, I have two offers right now, Santander S&T and BMO S&T, and I’m confused which one to pick. I want to go into trading, and I’m a citizen, so no visa sponsorship issues.
I’m mostly looking to work with smart people, have a good culture, and eventually run my own trading book. I’m also curious about potential exits into buy-side macro roles, such as hedge funds. What factors should I be thinking about for both in terms of culture, training, deal flow, long term opportunities to own a book, and future exit options?
Any insights would be really appreciated
When deciding between Santander S&T and BMO S&T for 2027, here are the key factors to consider based on the most helpful WSO content:
1. Culture and People
2. Training and Development
3. Deal Flow and Desk Opportunities
4. Long-Term Opportunities to Own a Book
5. Exit Opportunities
6. Future of S&T
Final Thoughts:
Ultimately, the decision should come down to the specific desk, the people you'll be working with, and where you see the best alignment with your long-term goals. If possible, reach out to current or former employees at both banks to get a better sense of the culture and opportunities.

Santander are relatively new in Markets (corporate/investment banking in general) and seem pretty serious about investing in the CIB. BMO is fine but doesn't really have that same optimism IMO - assuming this in NYC, not Canada.
