Top AM to eTrading/Systematic Trading

Hi All,

Been lucky enough to receive a FT investing role in FI at Fido/Vanguard/Wellington in the US despite not having previous internships in finance (did one in tech, hated it). I study maths and computer science at a target. I believe I'd prefer a role within program/systematic trading, but received rejections from couple BBs/MMs who were advertising FT/off-cycle on those desks, and most HFs/prop shops ghosted.

If I accept the role within the AM, would I be able to pivot to a systematic trading desk at a BB or a quant hedge fund given my degree after couple years- or would fact role is fundamental rather than quant investing set me back?
