[Unconventional Situation] Seeking Insights/Advice For Breaking Into The Industry

Hi guys, thank you for reading my somewhat lengthy post.

I find myself in an unconventional situation. Life has a way of throwing curveballs, and I've had to adjust my path accordingly. Despite these challenges, I remain steadfast in my desire to break into the sales/trading or proprietary trading industry. I'm reaching out to the collective wisdom of WSO for insights and advice to help me overcome my unique circumstance.

My interest in trading began during my undergraduate studies in finance at a semi-target school. I always had a clear vision of where I wanted to be professionally. However, just as I was about to graduate two years ago, my father was diagnosed with cancer. Given the severity of his condition, I was unable to commit to the demanding work hours typically associated with the trading industry.

Instead, I chose to further my education and enrolled in a master's program at a target school focused on quantitative finance and subjects relevant to the industry. I do like to think I understand markets and market microstructure well.

As I near the completion of my master's degree my father has unfortunately passed away. With the weight of family obligations lifted, I am now fully committed to pursuing a career in trading. I am eager to break into the sales/trading or proprietary trading industry, and I am willing to do whatever it takes to make that a reality.

Despite my academic achievements and ambition, my lack of industry experience and unconventional entry into the job market presents significant challenges. As someone who has always been driven to succeed, I find it difficult to navigate the competitive landscape and late recruiting process.

I am reaching out to the forum for insights and advice on how best to overcome my situation and break into the trading industry. I am open to any suggestions, whether it be networking strategies, skill development opportunities, or alternative career paths to consider.

I am confident that with the right guidance and determination, I can overcome this and break into career successfully. I am eager to learn from your collective experiences and insights, and I am excited to embark on this new chapter in my life.

Thank you in advance for your support and guidance guys.

I apologize if this is posted in the wrong section, feel free to move it if so.
