vol desk trades rn
Curious what kind of positioning/trades are going on right now — especially in equity ETF vol, rates vol, and FX vol. With the recent selloff, feels like there are some sharp setups out there that could generate serious PnL for the right desks... assuming they don’t get grilled on risk.
Similar question to the OP: how well are market makers doing in an environment like this? What can go wrong for them?
i’m sure the prop MMs had an absolute field day yesterday
i remember at an optiver presentation the guys said their best ever days were on brexit/trump r1/covid sell-off etc
implied directionality in rates seems cheap. fade the recent move with a conditional bear flattener if you can construct something with zero prem?
