Will I get my internship offer rescinded
I’m an incoming summer associate in S&T at a top-ish bank. I’m a grad student at an ivy school and did not do good in my first semester (2.95 gpa) as I was focused on recruiting. I did really well in the interviews and also have my own projects that helped me stand out a lot. Will I have my offer rescinded after they ask for my transcript? Will they ask for my transcript before the end of the spring semester?
Based on the most helpful WSO content, it's unlikely that your internship offer will be rescinded solely due to a GPA drop, especially if your GPA wasn't a critical factor in securing the offer. Many banks focus more on your performance during the internship rather than your academic record, particularly if you excelled in interviews and have unique projects that set you apart.
However, there are a few key points to consider:
Transcript Requests: Banks may request your transcript as part of the onboarding process or background checks. If your GPA is significantly lower than expected, it could raise questions, but it doesn't automatically mean your offer will be rescinded.
Communication: If asked about your GPA, it's best to be honest and explain the circumstances (e.g., focusing on recruiting). Highlight your strong performance in interviews and your unique projects to reinforce your value.
Timing: If they request your transcript before the end of the spring semester, your current GPA might be under scrutiny. However, if they wait until after the semester, you have an opportunity to improve your grades and demonstrate upward momentum.
Likelihood of Rescission: According to WSO threads, most banks are unlikely to rescind offers for minor GPA drops unless there are other red flags, such as dishonesty or significant discrepancies in your application.
To mitigate concerns, focus on excelling during your internship and maintaining transparency if the topic arises.

Why do you believe your low GPA would make you lose the already given internship offer? I dont hnderstand
During the application, they said they required 3.7+. Since I didn’t have a GPA yet, I just went a head and checked yes.
No one cares about transcripts outside of verifying grades and school. So long as you aren’t in a situation where some one is judging your resume again (like another interview process), low grades don’t matter. No one will ask for it before you start an internship
Thank you!

As long as you don't lie on your resume about your GPA or at the time of the application submission you will be 100% fine (ik kids who lied and got offers pulled)
how did the firm find out they lied?
